Free WEEKLY Credit Reports Extended Until April 2022

Due to COVID-19, the three credit bureaus are offering free credit reports weekly instead of annually.

All three bureaus — Experian, Equifax and TransUnion — started the weekly offer last year in the midst of the virus’s surge. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced the bureaus would extend that benefit until April 20, 2022.

As always, the ONLY trustworthy and secure site to get free reports simultaneously from all three bureaus is AnnualCreditReport.com. Do not attempt to get free credit reports from any other site.

Cathlin Tully, an attorney with the FTC’s Division of Privacy and Identity Protection, shared these suggestions for Americans who are struggling to pay their bills, pay off their debts or maintain good credit during the pandemic:

  • Reach out to your creditors. “Ask if they can postpone your payment, put you on a payment plan or give you a temporary forbearance,” Tully said.
  • Check your credit report regularly. You should be checking it at least annually, not only for accuracy, but also for fraud. Your reports from all three bureaus should MATCH.
  • Dispute any errors or fraudulent marks on your report. For the best ways to do that, click here.
